Sabo x Reader: Seams [Prologue]
You wrongly thought you had woken up in a field of snow.
The ground beneath you was soft and pliable as you lay there, flat on your back, blinking blearily up into the dark, cloudy sky and watching tiny flakes of grey drift down in mesmerizing dances.
Grey...?
Your mind felt scattered and uncoordinated, but you were able to reach up with a shaky arm and catch a grey particle in the palm of your hand. Bringing it closer to your eyes, you observed it and noticed that it was neither cold to the touch nor quick to melt despite the warmth of your skin.
What is this?
With every passing second, you became slightly more cohes

"Hey, Koushi," you called for him softly, watching as your every word misted and swirled in the chilly winter air, clinging on desperately as they tumbled from your lips.
The ashy-haired boy only hummed in response and he continued to trudge forward, taking great care not to slip in the freshly fallen snow. As per tradition, you followed close behind, childishly aiming your steps to land in the imprints your childhood friend left behind. You didn't fail to note the slight strain it took for you to match his stride and couldn't ignore the slight pang in your heart. You've never had that problem before.
"It's cold," you complained,

Hah...Hah... You panted heavily as you raced across the pavement, the streets blurring into an unfocused smear of color as your [H/C] hair blew out behind you. A desperate glance at the screen of your phone informed you that it was 7:55. You had five more minutes; any later, and you would have to deal with detention on the first day of school, which was, undoubtedly, not the best way to start the school year, not to mention your first day of high school. So, with renewed determination, you forced those thoughts to the back of your mind as you pushed yourself to move faster and faster and faster. You barely had enough energy to summon a tr

For as long as you've know him, Haru has never changed.
The thought struck you suddenly as you discovered an ancient photo album hidden in the murky depths of the attic. Years ago, when you had first moved in, you had decided to stash away some cherished, but otherwise inoperative, memories. Now, as your parents were coming to visit you soon, you decided to clean even the most remote areas of the house, and that just so included the stuffy attic. But, as you took a short break to scan through the laminated pages of the flowery album, you decided that dusting the attic was more than worth it if you found such precious things every tim

It all started with a three simple words.
"Who is he?" you asked innocently, pointing to the cover of one of the many popular sports magazine strewn messily across the desks. You were never one to be interested in sports, finding the idea of watching a jumble of athletes chase a ball up and down a court lacking a certain appeal, but your two friends never let your opinion hold them back. During junior high school, you ended up spending almost every lunch listening to excited arguments over the best players and most promising teams. That day was no different, except, when you had finally finished eating and cleaned up, you found your
It was the dead of night when you suddenly awoke. Sitting up slowly, you couldn't think of any particular reason behind your abrupt consciousness as the Moby Dick sailed noiselessly through the night, swaying gently with the waves as if it were a mother rocking her infant child to sleep. The sea was your lullaby, having lulled you to slumber since you were but a child with dreams as endlessly vast as the sky above, so why you were unable to sleep now, you didn't know, not until you rolled over, arms reaching out, only to meet thin air.
That's when it all came rushing back.
Ace isn't here, you reminded yourself resentfully, the

You were having a bad day.
No, scratch that. You were having an awful day, a catastrophic day, an absolutely, unarguably plain horrible day. It seemed that a lifetime's worth of unfortunate happenings, from forgetting your homework to losing your money to tripping down the stairs, had decided to fit itself into the short span of a single day and you just couldn't catch a break. Yes, your day was terrible, but at least it couldn't get any worse, right?
"Hi there," a young, raven-haired male waved at you cheerily from his perch on the edge of your bed. "Fast, affordable, and reliable! Delivery God Yato, at your service!"

"Perfect."
From the warm, delicate glow of the sultry, red candles to the rich, tantalizing aroma of the many entrees arranged on the small, circular dinner table, it was as you had murmured proudly to yourself. Everything was perfect until three quick rings from your phone ruined your evening.
"Hey, [Y/N]," Aomine drawled into his cellphone lethargically with an unenthusiastic yawn at the end. "I'm going to be a little late coming home. I need to finish some paperwork, and it's probably going to take me a little while."
Immediately, you responded with disbelief. "What? But you promised you would come home early today, Daiki!

I'm sorry. I miss you.
It was strange how those five words meant to much to you. After Rin had returned to Japan, the manner of your parting continued to haunt you as you watched the love of your life walk out just as swiftly as he had entered, taking so much more than just your shattered heart with him. All your plans for graduation and the future had included him, be it attending the University of Sydney with him, buying your first home with him, or even getting married to him. But he had left, disappeared, and you were so lost. Guessing Rin had moved on, you figured you should do the same

As a child, Rin Matsuoka found that he had a particular affinity for the color red, and he wasn't talking about any washed-out, dingy ketchup stain either. No, his red had to be scarlet, crimson, cardinal, so red that it was almost blinding, because red is associated with energy, power, determination, passion, and intensity, and that was what he was, a spark of red oh-so ready to leave his mark in the world. So, when a chance to train in Australia rolled by, Rin scraped together his limited foreign vocabulary and packed it in a suitcase alongside his essentials before boarding the plane with a on
